Japan demands a large number of skilled workers: Asif Nazrul

Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, said that there is a large number of skilled workers in Japan. He stressed the importance of Bangladeshi workers acquiring the necessary skills to meet this demand.

He said these things as the chief guest at a seminar titled ‘Japan’s Labor Market: Prospects and Challenges’ organized by the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital today, Wednesday (July 2, 2025).

The advisor said, we have formed a ‘Japan Cell’ and plan to create a dedicated website. We are adopting a simple process in sending workers. Besides, we are thinking of private-public partnerships to make workers skilled.

Highlighting the reality of government jobs, he said, when we go to government offices, we hear – no cars, no computers, no manpower, no space – more manpower is needed. However, it is seen that 50 percent of the workers do not do any work and sit around.

Regarding providing bank loans to students to go abroad, he said, “We will make every effort to provide bank loan facilities to students.”
