Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Mahi Eldin Ahmed Fahmy met Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin.
The meeting was held in the Trade Advisor’s office room at the Secretariat on Sunday (June 29, 2025) afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Trade Advisor said that Egypt is a long-standing friend of Bangladesh and the bilateral relations with the country are very excellent. To make the friendly relations between the two countries stronger and sustainable, increasing trade is the need of the hour. At this time, he emphasized on exploring new possibilities in trade.
He emphasized on increasing the export of Bangladeshi products to Egypt, especially in sectors such as jute and jute products, ready-made garments, medicines and ceramics.
At this time, the Egyptian Ambassador said that Egypt sincerely believes that Bangladesh is a friendly country. Egypt and Bangladesh have historical relations. Egypt exports petrochemicals, fertilizers and high-quality raw cotton to Bangladesh.
Referring to Bangladesh as the world’s second largest exporter of ready-made garments, the ambassador said that Bangladesh can seize more opportunities to export quality ready-made garments by using high-quality cotton from Egypt.
Nasreen Jahan, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Ayesha Akhter, Additional Secretary (FTA) of the Ministry of Commerce, were present at the meeting.
