BNP organized ‘Gono-ovvutthan 2024: Jatio Oikya o Gonotrantik Ovijatra’ program

A discussion meeting titled ‘Gono-ovvutthan 2024: Jatio Oikya o Gonotrantik Ovijatra’ and a special program in honor of the martyred families were held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center on Tuesday (July 01, 2025) afternoon, organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia joined the program virtually as the chief guest. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman inaugurated the virtual program.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other top leaders of the party were special guests at the discussion meeting. Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, convener of the “July-August Mass Uprising, Mourning and Anniversary Celebration Committee” and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General, presided over the function.

Tarique Rahman said in his speech, “Even if there is no unity among the political parties on every issue, it is the demand of the hour to build consensus in the national interest.” He also said, “If the BNP gets the responsibility of running the state, it will form a national government and make maximum efforts to fulfill the expectations of the people.”

Begum Khaleda Zia, in her speech, called on everyone to remain united to institutionalize democracy. She said, “We have to utilize the newly created democratic opportunity.”

Leaders of various political parties and members of the martyrs’ families were present at the function. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presented the crests to the members of the martyrs’ families. They were holding photographs of the martyrs’ relatives.

A documentary titled ‘National Unity and Democratic Movement’ was screened at the beginning of the program.

The discussion meeting, chaired by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, convener of the July-August Mass Uprising, Mourning and Victory Anniversary Celebration Committee, and jointly moderated by Professor Abdullah Al Mamun and Professor Nahrin Khan, was attended by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, Salah Uddin Ahmed, Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) Mustafa Jamal Haider, National People’s Party’s Fariduzzaman Farhad, Labor Party’s Mostafizur Rahman Iran, Jatiya Gano Front’s Tipu Biswas, LDP’s Redwan Ahmed, Nezami Islam Party’s AKM Ashraful Haque, AB Party’s Mujibur Rahman Manju, NCP’s Azizur Islam Adib, Hefazat-e-Islam’s Maulana Jonayed Al Habib, NDM’s Bobby Hajjaj, Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam’s Maulana Manjarul Haque Afendi, Nazmul Haque Pradhan of Bangladesh JSD, Maulana Ahmed Ali Qashemi of Khilafat Majlish, Rashed Khan of Ganadhikar Parishad, and Professor Morshed Hasan Khan, member secretary of the July-August Mass Uprising, Mourning and Victory Anniversary Celebration Committee, spoke.

The event was attended by Tahsina Rashdir Luna, wife of the missing Ilyas Ali, doctor Sakhawat Hossain Sayant, a victim of torture during the fascist government, Ramzan Ali, brother of Abu Said, who was shot dead by police during the July-August uprising, Mir Mostafizur Rahman, father of Mir Mughde, Shafiul Alam, father of Wasim, Mohiuddin, father of Yamin, Farhan Fayyaz’s younger sister Farin, father of Abrar Fahad, Ananda Das, father of Biswajit Das in Old Dhaka, Fatematuz Zohra, mother of Abdullah Bin Zahid, younger brother of Nuruzzaman Joni, Moniruzzaman Hira, daughter of Parvez Hossain, Kazi Fahmim Zafar’s mother Kazi Lulul Makmim, BNP Mass Education Affairs Co-Editor Anisur Rahman Taluka Khokon, who survived the disappearance, and the convener of ‘Mayer Dak’. Sanjida Islam Tuli, a victim of the July-August coup who was paralyzed by bullets, and Redwan Hossain Riyad, who lost his eye in police firing, spoke at the event.

BNP Standing Committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, AZM Zahid Hossain, Gono Forum’s Subrata Chowdhury, NAP Bhashani’s Azharul Islam, BLDP’s Shahadat Hossain Selim, Kalyan Party’s Shamsuddin Parvez, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s Mufti Mohiuddin Ikram, and leaders of various political parties and professions were present at the event.
