“Police Modernization and Professionalization in Bangladesh” titled workshop was held

A workshop titled “Police Modernization and Professionalization in Bangladesh” was held at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday (June 25) under the joint initiative of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Mr. Baharul Alam BPM inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Major General Iftekhar Anis, BSP, AWC, AFWC, psc, PEng, Director General, BIISS. Dr. Suruchi Pant, Deputy Regional Representative, South Asia Division, UNODC and Mr. Felipe Ramos, Head of Office, UNODC, Bangladesh also spoke at the ceremony.

Three working sessions were held after the inauguration ceremony. The workshop was attended by 60 senior officials from Bangladesh Police, civil society, UN system and development partners.
