BGMEA and GarmentTechBD.org sign MoU to bring transparency in export products

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and GarmentTechBD.org (Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh) signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaboratively implement the Digital Product Passport (DPP) initiative through the GarmentTech.express platform.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at BGMEA Complex on Wednesday (June 4, 2025).

This partnership aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s ready-made garments (RMG) sector in preparation for the European Union’s upcoming regulatory requirements, which mandate digital product transparency for all goods entering the EU market by 2030.

Under the agreement, both organizations will work jointly to establish a national knowledge hub focused on circular supply chains and DPP master data customized to Bangladesh’s RMG industry.

They will work to develop and deliver specialized training programs for senior and mid-level factory management with an emphasis on sustainable supply chains, digital traceability, and circular economy principles, and coordinate pilot projects with select RMG factories to implement the Digital Product Passport in alignment with global best practices.

BGMEA Administrator Anwar Hossain said, “This MoU reinforces our commitment to equipping the industry with the necessary knowledge, platforms, and partnerships for a future where traceability, compliance, and circularity are core market expectations.”

Dr. Henry Soo, Strategic Partner at GarmentTechBD.org, said, “The Digital Product Passport is not just a compliance requirement—it is a driver for digital and sustainable transformation across Bangladesh’s garment sector. Through GarmentTech.express, we aim to close the readiness gap and enable seamless, real-time data integration from the factory floor to the fashion shelf.”
