United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure green environment of Chittagong and mental and physical development of children. Under this agreement, the abandoned playground adjacent to Karnaphuli Shishu Park in Agrabad will be converted into a child-friendly entertainment center with modern facilities.
The agreement was signed in a cordial ceremony at UCB head office. The agreement was signed by Sheikh Mohammad Touhidul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Chittagong City Corporation and Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Managing Director and CEO of UCB on behalf of their respective organizations.
The ceremony was also attended by the Honorable Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Dr. Shahadat Hossain and Honorable Chairman of UCB Sharif Zahir along with top officials of both organizations.
This city of nearly 7 million people has long suffered from the lack of playgrounds and recreational centers for children and adolescents. Rapid urbanization is reducing the number of such open spaces. Keeping this reality in mind, CCC and UCB have jointly undertaken this important project.
UCB, which has been a leader in the financial sector for over four decades, as well as committed to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, is proud to provide financial support to this great initiative. The bank believes that creating a safe and enjoyable environment for children is essential for their healthy growth.
