Chief Adviser orders formation of high-level body to ensure fair price of sacrificial animals’ rawhides

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has ordered the formation of a high-level committee to ensure fair price of sacrificial animal skins, animal transportation, waste management and other matters during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

The Chief Adviser gave this instruction at a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday (May 4, 2025).

The Chief Adviser said, “For a long time, we have been seeing that people are being deprived of getting fair price of sacrificial animal skins. As a result, the poorest people of the society are the most affected, who are largely dependent on the money from the sale of these skins. This situation needs to end.’

Noting that there is a syndicate controlling the price of animal skins, the chief advisor said, ‘We will do our utmost so that people are not deprived of the fair price of the skins of sacrificial animals due to any syndicate or situation.’

He directed to give special importance to ensuring that no cruelty is done to the animals during the transportation of sacrificial animals and their sale in the market. He also emphasized on ensuring proper use of ETP in the processing of skins.

He ordered the formation of a high-level committee under the leadership of Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin to implement the directives in this regard. The committee will also include Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhtar, Industries Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, Road Transport and Bridges Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Information Advisor Mahfuz Alam, Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor on the Ministry of Home Affairs Md. Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of BIDA and BEZA Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor Shafiqul Alam, Industries Secretary Md.
