Dhaka-Beijing relations will remain intact: Foreign Adviser

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Tauhid Hossain said on Wednesday (August 14) that the strong relationship between Dhaka and Beijing will remain strong as the people of Bangladesh maintain a positive view of China.

In a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (August 14) afternoon, Tauhid Hossain said, ‘Bangladesh-China relations will remain strong because our relations are people-centric and the people of Bangladesh hold China in high regard.

The Foreign Adviser told reporters about his separate meeting today with several ambassadors in Dhaka, including Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen. Pointing out that the Chinese ambassador has sought Bangladesh’s continued support on sensitive issues like Taiwan and Tibet, Hossain said, “Bangladesh has always supported China on this issue and I have reassured him that our position remains unchanged.” He emphasized that China wants to continue the current relationship with Dhaka and it is in the interest of both countries.

He also said, “I have called upon them to continue the current mode of cooperation.” Because it is good for both countries.

The foreign adviser said that he sought China’s assistance in improving the current economic condition of Bangladesh.

During the discussion, they also discussed ways to further develop the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Bangladesh.
