TCB’s truck sales will continue throughout the month of Ramadan: Commerce Advisor

Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said, under the direction of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, we have started the product sales program through truck sales among 12 lakh families in a total of 13 areas including all divisional headquarters and 5 poverty-stricken areas.

This was stated by the chief guest at the inauguration of TCB’s product sales program on mobile trucks at Shibbari intersection in Khulna on Tuesday (February 11, 2025) morning.

The Commerce Advisor said, TCB supplies products to 63 lakh families at subsidized prices. Khulna region has the highest success rate in smart card conversion. The remaining card activations will be achieved by the 24th of this month, thereby increasing the number of beneficiaries. To increase this number, the truck sale program will continue for an additional 1.2 million families until the last day of Ramadan, the trade advisor said, in return, the price of goods in the market will be more tolerant. An additional 9,000 metric tons of goods will be sold in truck sales. Through this program, the market will go down, the market will be tolerant. There will be relief in the lives of the marginalized people.

I dream of a day when TCB activities will no longer have to be carried out. We want to reach our goal through balanced distribution of resources. It may be a long-term plan. Even so, the advisor expressed his hope that we want to achieve it.

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Faisal Azad, Superintendent of Police TM Mosharraf Hossain and Additional District Administrator (Human Resources) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas spoke as special guests at the program chaired by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam.

It is to be noted that any consumer can buy goods from the truck by standing in line. A buyer can buy a maximum of two liters of soybean oil, two kilograms each of lentils and chickpeas, one kilogram of sugar and 500 grams of dates. Out of this, the price of soybean oil per liter will be kept at 100 taka. TCB will sell sugar at 70 taka per kilogram, lentils and chickpeas at 60 taka, and dates and sugar at 156 taka.
