The 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) commenced on Saturday, January 11, under the slogan “Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society,” organized by the Rainbow Film Society. This year, a total of 220 films from 75 countries will be showcased across five venues.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the main auditorium of the National Museum. To mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China, a Chinese film poster exhibition corner was inaugurated by the chief guest, Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Md. Nahid Islam.

Special guests included the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, and Director of the International Department of the Chinese Film Administration, Xu Yang. The event was chaired by Jalal Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission and Executive Member of the Festival Committee. Festival Director Ahmed Muztaba Zamal was also present at the ceremony.
Popular Bangladeshi band Joler Gaan performed the inaugural music, followed by the screening of the Chinese film “Moon Man,” directed by Chiyu Zhang.
The 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival will continue until January 19, concluding with the closing ceremony at the National Museum’s main auditorium.
