Qatar National Day celebration in Dhaka

On Tuesday (December 17, 2024) evening, the Ambassador of Qatar to Dhaka, Surai Ali Al-Qahtani, organized a program to commemorate the National Day of his country and the architect of Qatar, Emir Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Sani. Ambassador Al-Qahtani recalled the “glorious journey of deep relations” between the two countries in the 50 years of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Qatar.

In his welcome speech at the event, Ambassador of Qatar Surai Ali Al-Qahtani said, “I am very happy to celebrate Qatar National Day with you.”

The ambassador said Qatar continues to achieve political, diplomatic, economic, sports, health, education and other “successes” under the leadership of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Highlighting various aspects of relations with Bangladesh, the ambassador said that currently more than 4 lakh Bangladeshis are working in Qatar and making important contributions to the country.

Dr. Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of the Interim Government of Bangladesh as well as the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment was the chief guest on the occasion.

He said Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar continue to make important contributions to the economy of both countries. The interim government is reiterating its commitment to send skilled workers to Qatar.

Asif Nazrul said, “Through today’s event, we are celebrating the incredible achievements of Qatar, as well as highlighting the enduring bond between the two brotherly countries.”

Heads of diplomatic missions of various countries, high-ranking government officials, BNP standing committee members Mirz Abbas and Dr. Moin Khan, Jamaat’s Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Secretary General Golam Parwar and other political figures were present.

Also participating in the celebration are Qatar Airways, Qatar Charity and Qatar Red Crescent.
