‘Global Sourcing Expo 2026’ to be Held in Dhaka to Promote Export Diversification

Desk Report:

With the objectives of diversifying Bangladesh’s export products, exploring new international markets, and establishing direct business connections between local entrepreneurs and global buyers, the ‘Global Sourcing Expo–Dhaka 2026’ is set to take place from November 15 to 17. This three-day international trade exhibition will be hosted at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (Big Wave) in Purbachal, Dhaka. Organized by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the expo is expected to feature products across 12 sectors, with over 200 stalls.

Speaking at a preparatory meeting held in Dhaka on Sunday (October 18, 2026), Mohammad Hasan Arif, Vice Chairman and CEO of the Export Promotion Bureau, stated that the expo will serve as an effective commercial platform to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) enter international markets and showcase Bangladesh’s exportable products globally. The event is expected to foster direct engagement between local producers, exporters, and entrepreneurs with international buyers, thereby creating new business opportunities.

The scope of the expo has been expanded this year to include 12 sectors, up from eight in the previous edition. The event will feature business-to-business (B2B) meetings, online matchmaking, professional networking, seminars, and factory visits for international buyers and local entrepreneurs. Additionally, fashion shows and cultural programs will be organized to promote domestic products and facilitate expansion into international markets.

To encourage the participation of international buyers, the meeting also discussed special hotel discounts and reduced airfares on Biman Bangladesh Airlines for registered buyers. These initiatives are aimed at increasing the involvement of foreign buyers and fostering long-term commercial relationships with Bangladeshi exporters. During the discussion meeting, representatives from various business associations and industry sectors emphasized the importance of increasing the engagement of international buyers, expanding the participation of women entrepreneurs and SMEs, and ensuring the professional management of stalls and pavilions. Furthermore, suggestions were put forward regarding the need for effective follow-up initiatives to maintain business connections and secure the realization of potential purchase orders after the fair concludes.

The meeting highlighted the significance of showcasing products from Bangladesh’s high-potential export sectors—such as plastics, frozen foods, fisheries, jute, furniture, and pharmaceuticals—to the international market. According to stakeholders, effectively presenting the export capacity and product diversity of these sectors to international buyers would create opportunities to tap into new markets and further strengthen Bangladesh’s position in existing ones.
