Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, has expressed interest in sending manpower from Bangladesh for development-related activities in Saudi Arabia. He expressed hope that opportunities would arise for Bangladesh to participate in various developmental, productive, and constructive initiatives in Saudi Arabia, particularly in the context of Saudi Vision 2030, World Expo 2030, and the FIFA World Cup 2034.
The Minister made these remarks on Wednesday (September 23, 2026) during a meeting with Ashraful Haque Chowdhury, President of the Saudi Arabia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SABCCI).
During the meeting, SABCCI President Ashraful Haque Chowdhury congratulated the Minister on behalf of the Chamber’s members and the Board of Directors for assuming the responsibilities of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives.
It was announced during the meeting that SABCCI is organizing a “Bangladesh Trade Promotion Mission and Product Catalogue Show” next month. The event will involve meetings and exchanges of views with representatives from Chambers of Commerce and prominent business leaders in the Saudi cities of Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Makkah, and Madinah. Products and services from ten key sectors of Bangladesh will be showcased and promoted at the event.
The Minister expressed hope that the active participation of SABCCI members in this initiative would promote Bangladeshi products and services and further expand commercial and economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia. He wished the event success.
