President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for upholding the institutional image and public trust of the Bangladesh Election Commission by conducting all upcoming elections in a free, fair and impartial manner.
He made this call when a four-member delegation of the Bangladesh Election Commission paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban this afternoon (August 27, 2026).
The delegation of the Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin, met the President. The delegation included Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Machud, Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar and Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah.
During the meeting, the President emphasized the need for the Election Commission to properly discharge its constitutional responsibilities. He said that ensuring free, fair and impartial elections is very important to further strengthen the democratic system of the country.
The President expressed hope that the Election Commission will properly exercise its constitutional responsibilities and powers to ensure the people’s right to vote and play an effective role in further strengthening people’s trust in the electoral system.
At the time, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin briefed the President about the various activities of the Election Commission and the preparations undertaken in view of the upcoming elections.
Other members of the Election Commission were also present during the meeting.
