Importance has been laid on expanding manpower, trade, investment, energy cooperation and air connectivity between Bangladesh and Brunei Darussalam.
During a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam MP and Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner to Bangladesh Haji Haris bin Osman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, both sides discussed these issues in detail.
In the meeting, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted Bangladesh’s interest in employing more Bangladeshi workers in Brunei. At the same time, he emphasized the need to increase business-to-business (B2B) communication, cooperation between women entrepreneurs and the establishment of a Bangladesh-Brunei Chamber of Commerce to further strengthen trade and business relations between the two countries.
The Brunei High Commissioner welcomed these proposals and reiterated Brunei’s commitment to further expand trade and investment cooperation with Bangladesh.
The meeting also discussed ensuring greater market access for Bangladeshi medicines, jute products, agricultural products and mangoes to Brunei.
In addition, both sides agreed to form a joint business group comprising business organizations, entrepreneurs and investors from the two countries. It was hoped that this platform would further enhance mutually beneficial trade, investment and economic cooperation.
In the meeting, both sides expressed their determination to further deepen and multi-dimensionally strengthen the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Brunei.
