Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Maldives Foreign Minister Iruthisam Adamu in the Maldives capital Male on Sunday (July 26, 2026).
During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers discussed in detail ways to enhance cooperation in various fields including migration and expatriate welfare, tourism, education, health, blue economy and maritime connectivity to further strengthen Bangladesh-Maldives bilateral relations.
During the meeting, they also exchanged views on the possibility of possible high-level exchange of visits and the establishment of direct shipping links between the two countries to expand bilateral trade and communication.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman reiterated the government’s ‘Bangladesh First’ foreign policy and said that increasing people-to-people contact is very important to further strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Maldives.
Maldivian State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammad Fahmi Hassan and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Maldives Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam were present at the meeting.
