The government will continue to provide all-out cooperation to further expand trade, investment and business cooperation between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, MP.
He said this when a delegation of the Saudi Arabia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SABCCI) paid a courtesy call on the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (July 23, 2026). The delegation was led by Ashraful Haque Chowdhury, President of SABCCI.
During the meeting, the delegation informed the State Minister about various initiatives of SABCCI to improve bilateral trade, investment and business relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. These included trade promotion activities, organizing international exhibitions and plans to organize a Bangladesh-Saudi Investment Forum in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also sought for its cooperation in coordinating with the relevant Saudi authorities.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs appreciated the initiative of SubCCI and assured the Ministry of its continued cooperation in further strengthening Bangladesh-Saudi economic relations. He emphasized on enhancing trade and investment as well as skilled manpower development and technical and vocational training.
Shama Obaid Islam also mentioned the economic empowerment of women and the potential for expanding Bangladesh’s creative industries, handicrafts and versatile jute products in the Saudi market.
At the time, the SubCCI delegation reiterated their commitment to further expand economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
