Desk Report:
Rakib Hossain, son of hotel worker Abdur Rahim, is 25 years old. Rakib works as a tree cutter.
The family runs on the income of the father and son. Recently, Rakib got entangled in an electric wire while cutting trees, burning a part of his body. The son was referred from a local hospital to Barisal, and from there to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in the capital. But the father, who works in a hotel, could not afford the medical expenses.
His eyes were filled with darkness. Seeing no other way out, Abdur Rahim took refuge in Facebook. He posted a post informing about his son’s illness. That post changed the situation.
The post of this family from Sonakhali village in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur came to the attention of the chairman of Anvir Bashundhara Group Foundation. After seeing Rakib’s picture and news on Facebook, he ordered to ensure prompt medical care.
On Sunday (July 5, 2026), the Foundation’s Coordinator Md. Amir Hossain Mia went to the hospital and handed over the financial assistance to Abdur Rahim.
Expressing his gratitude, Rakib’s father said, “My son was seriously injured when he touched an electric wire while cutting a tree. Part of his body was burned.
The family could not afford the medical expenses. So I posted on Facebook. Later, we were contacted by the Anvir Bashundhara Group Foundation. Today, they have provided financial assistance for my son’s treatment. I am very grateful to them. May Allah bless them.”
However, relief is still a long way off. Rakib, who is lying on the hospital bed, is now almost completely wrapped in bandages. While informing about his current condition, his brother said, “He had an operation on his hand. Everything is bandaged. I can’t understand anything.”
Foundation Coordinator Md. Amir Hossain Mia said, “Under the instructions of the Chairman of Anvir Bashundhara Group Foundation, financial assistance has been provided to the father of the ailing Rakib Hossain for his treatment and medicines. The Chairman, after seeing the pictures and news of Rakib’s illness on Facebook, ordered to arrange for the necessary treatment and assistance as soon as possible. Anvir Bashundhara Group Foundation considers itself successful in participating in such humanitarian work. Under the instructions of the Chairman, such humanitarian activities will continue in the future.”
