Former national captain Tamim Iqbal has been elected as the director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after getting the maximum 73 votes. The results of the BCB elections held on Sunday (June 7, 2026) were announced in the evening after the counting of votes.
The voting was held from 10 am to 4 pm at the boardroom of the BCB office adjacent to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The counting of votes ended at 6 pm, after which the results were officially announced.
A total of 16 candidates contested from the club category. Out of these, 12 directors were elected. Among those elected, Tamim Iqbal topped with the maximum 73 votes.
In addition, Masuduzzaman, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khasru, Saeed Ibrahim, Shahnian Tanim, Fahim Sinha, Yasir Faisal, Asif Rabbani, Dr. Mahbub Shamim and Sakef Ahmed Salam were elected.
According to the votes received, Saeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khasru are in second position with 72 votes each. Masuduzzaman got 70 votes and Yasir Faisal got 68 votes. Fahim Sinha and Shahnian Tanim got 66 votes each. Asif Rabbani got 64 votes, Yasir Abbas got 63 votes. Rafiqul Islam Babu got 53 votes and Dr. Mahbub Shamim got 41 votes and were elected as directors.
On the other hand, Borhanul Pappu, Amjad Hossain, Fayazur Rahman Mitu and Imroz Ahmed were defeated in the election.
