Diplomatic Desk:
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs met a high-level delegation from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) on Monday (8 June, 2026) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss expanding bilateral development cooperation. The delegation was led by Dr. Ali Ercan, Vice President of TİKA, who is currently on an official visit to Bangladesh from June 7–10, 2026.
During the meeting, the State Minister sought TİKA’s specialized cooperation in implementing educational initiatives for homeless street children, alongside building sustainable climate resilience in vulnerable regions. TİKA has been actively implementing sustainable socio-economic and humanitarian projects across Bangladesh since 2014.
Acknowledging Bangladesh’s climate vulnerabilities, Dr. Ali Ercan recommended high-level Bangladeshi participation in the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP), which will be hosted by Türkiye. He reaffirmed TİKA’s ongoing commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s national development priorities, particularly in critical sectors such as education, disaster management, and capacity building.
Both sides expressed optimism that the meeting would further strengthen the longstanding ties between Bangladesh and Türkiye, paving the way for impactful and future-focused institutional collaborations.
