Desk Report:
Solar panels will be installed to resolve the power crisis at Madhupur Upazila Health Complex in Tangail. Until the solar panels are installed, the generator bill of Madhupur Upazila Health Complex will be paid personally for the convenience of the common people coming for treatment.
Local MP and Minister of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology and Science and Technology Ministry Fakir Mahbub Anam said these things during his visit to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex on Friday (May 29, 2026) afternoon.
The minister said that no irregularities will be tolerated in the hospital. He also commented that Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex will be made one of the model hospitals in the country to ensure healthcare for the people.
Fakir Mahbub Anam also said that the government is working relentlessly to provide improved healthcare at the doorsteps of the people. Therefore, all necessary assistance will be provided to transform the Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex into a modern and people-friendly healthcare institution.
During the visit, the minister spoke to the patients and inquired about the treatment. He also spent some time with the child patients. Later, he participated in a view-exchange meeting in the seminar room of the new building of the health complex.
At the meeting, the hospital authorities said that in addition to Madhupur, Dhanbari, and Gopalpur, patients from various areas of Muktagachha in Mymensingh, Sarishabari in Jamalpur, and Ghatail upazilas also come to this hospital for medical services. As a result, the hospital has to handle a huge patient load every day.
The authorities also said that although the hospital was upgraded from 50 beds to 100 beds in 2020, the necessary revenue sector manpower has not yet been created. At the same time, due to insufficient funds allocated to various sectors including MSR, electricity bills, municipal tax, and land development tax, the 100-bed program has to be run with limited manpower. This puts additional pressure on doctors, nurses, and employees.
The hospital authorities demanded the construction of a new store building, boundary wall, solar panels, submersible motors and water lines, sewage and waste management pits, doctors’ dormitories and staff quarters to run a full-fledged 100-bed hospital. Along with this, importance was also laid on the provision of necessary medical equipment and furniture.
The minister listened attentively to the various problems of the health complex and assured to take initiatives to solve them.
Upazila Executive Officer Mirza Md. Zubayer Hossain, the hospital’s residential medical officer and other doctors, nurses, officers and employees were present during the inspection.
