On Saturday (23 May 2026) morning, Honorable State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit formally inaugurated the 5.41877 MW peak (DC) / 4.29 MW AC rooftop solar power project built on CapEx model at Jobaida Karim Jute Mills Limited located at Joair More, Faridpur. He inaugurated it through video conference. Through this, another important milestone was set in the expansion of the use of renewable energy in the country’s industrial sector. The project is connected to the national grid at 33 kV voltage level through OJOPADICO’s 33/11 kV Goalchamot, Faridpur substation.

After the inauguration, State Minister Anindya Islam Amit participated in a meeting with the Chairman of Jobaida Karim Jute Mills Limited, Jahangir Mia and other top officials of the company. In his speech, the Honorable State Minister said, “Jobaida Karim Jute Mills can be a model for other private companies.” He expressed hope that other private companies will come forward with a greater public service mindset by using more advanced technology later.

The State Minister also said, “Initiatives have been taken to install solar power in government buildings including DC offices, SP offices, hospitals in 21 districts in the next two to three months.”
It is worth noting that Jobaida Karim Jute Mills Limited is located on about 120 acres of land and electricity is being generated by installing solar panels on its 3 lakh 4 thousand 374 square feet of roof. The rooftop solar power project has been implemented with the financial assistance of IDCOL with the aim of reducing electricity costs in the industrial sector, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and developing an environment-friendly power generation system.
According to experts, the rooftop solar power project based on industrial plants will play an important role in reducing the pressure on the national grid, reducing carbon emissions and strengthening energy security. If more such initiatives are implemented in line with the government’s renewable energy expansion policy, the country’s energy sector will be stronger. The project not only meets the power needs of an industrial enterprise, but also increases the participation of clean energy in the national power system, according to those concerned.
The inauguration ceremony organized on the Zoom platform was attended by the Honorable Minister of State for Power, Mr. Anindya Islam Amit, along with Power Secretary, Mr. Mirana Mahrukh, Chairman and Additional Secretary, Ojopadiko, Mr. Noor Ahmed, and BPDB Member (Distribution) and Managing Director (Additional Responsibilities), Ojopadiko, Mr. A. N. M. Obaidullah.
The Executive Director, Chief Engineer, Supervising Engineer, Executive Engineer and other officials of Ojopadico at various levels, Chairman of Jobida Karim Jute Mills Mr. Md. Jahangir Mia and senior officials and engineers of the said organization were directly present at the event.
