Emphasizing on reducing foreign dependence and making full use of domestic resources, Honorable State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit said that the main backbone of building a prosperous economy and realizing the dream of a trillion-dollar economy is the energy and mineral resources sector.

He said this in his speech as the chief guest at the inauguration of the spade-in program of Kamta-2 well located in Kaliganj Upazila in Gazipur on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) afternoon. The State Minister said that the country’s industrialization is not possible without electricity and energy. Currently, about 570 industrial plants in the country are ready for gas connection; investments worth thousands of crores of taka are pending. If we can supply them with gas, then millions of people will be employed, which will make the dream of a trillion-dollar economy of the state come true.

State Minister for Power Anindya Islam also said, “We want to reach a place where there is no gap between demand and supply. We have to work towards that goal.”
Petrobangla Chairman Md. Abdul Mannan, Managing Director Engineer Md. Abdul Jalil, BGFCL Engineers A, K, M, Jasim Uddin, and others were also present at the well drilling inauguration ceremony.
