The holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Bangladesh on May 28

The moon of the holy month of Zilhajj of the year 1447 Hijri has been sighted in the sky of the country. As a result, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims, the holy Eid-ul-Azha, will be celebrated across the country on May 28 (Thursday).

This decision was announced after a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the meeting room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram in the capital on Monday (May 18, 2026) evening.

After the meeting, Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad said that the moon of the holy month of Zilhajj has been sighted in the sky of Cox’s Bazar. Based on this, the counting of the month of Zilhajj will start in the country from Tuesday.

He also said that the holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on May 28 (Thursday) with due religious dignity and solemnity.
