Italy interested in importing more products from Bangladesh

Diplomatic Desk:

Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh Antonio Alessandro paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Tejgaon office today (May 10, 2026). The meeting focused on further strengthening the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Italy and fruitful discussions were held on various issues of mutual interest.

At the meeting, the Italian Ambassador said that Italy is interested in importing various quality products including ready-made garments, food products, leather and leather products from Bangladesh. At the same time, new areas of trade expansion between Bangladesh and Italy were also discussed.

At this time, the Italian Embassy urged Bangladesh to purchase modern technology and machinery used in industries from Italy, which can play an important role in the modernization of Bangladesh’s industrial sector.

To further deepen the cultural relations between the two countries, renowned Italian football clubs were invited to Bangladesh to tour and organize friendly matches. In addition, emphasis was placed on increasing people-to-people contacts and strengthening cultural exchanges.

Discussions were also held on further expanding the ongoing cooperation between Bangladesh and Italy to facilitate safe and regular migration management.

Both sides expressed their determination to take Bangladesh-Italy relations to new heights and expressed hope to further strengthen cooperation in various fields including trade, military, culture, sports and migration in the future.
