A delegation from the Broadcast Journalist Center (BJC) met with Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) at the ministry’s conference room. During the meeting, the delegation presented a power point presentation to the Information Minister on various problems and prospects of electronic media.
The Information Minister said that the government is determined to ensure free and accurate information to the people and to protect them from misinformation. He said that many problems of the media will be solved automatically if professionalism is ensured in the media.
The Information Minister commented, “Our policy is analog, but the challenge is digital.” He said that the Media Commission will be formed based on the opinions of all parties concerned to solve various problems related to the media. He emphasized consensus among all parties in this regard. He said that the government will play the role of a ‘facilitator’ in this regard.
BJC Chairman Fahim Ahmed, Member Secretary Ilias Hossain, Trustee Members Rezwanul Haque, Talat Mamun and Nur Safa Zulhaj were present at the time.
