Diplomatic Desk:
The European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission has released its final report after observing the elections held in Bangladesh. The report was presented at a press conference held on April 28.
At the press conference, the Chief Observer said, “I am presenting the final report at a crucial time. At a time of instability in the international arena and concerns about democracy and security, Bangladesh has taken a stand for democratic values. Our report is presented in a spirit of cooperation, which is part of the EU’s commitment to protecting and promoting common values such as human rights, the rule of law, democracy and transparent and credible elections.”
The final report has put forward a total of 19 recommendations to make future elections more participatory, transparent and acceptable. These recommendations include various issues related to electoral system reform, increasing administrative transparency, ensuring voter trust and developing the legal framework.
In addition, the press conference highlighted various aspects of the EU Election Observation Mission’s activities and published a photo gallery, which captured important moments from the observation activities.
