Technology-based collective knowledge will be the strategic strength of future civilization: Information and Broadcasting Minister

Desk Report:

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has said that technology-based collective knowledge and creative thinking will be the strategic strength for future civilization. He said that the country’s creative talent, innovative thinking and technical skills must be combined and converted into assets for national development.

The minister said these things at a discussion meeting organized by the Bangladesh ICT Stakeholders Association (BISA) on the Telecom, Data and Cyber Security Bill, 2026 in the capital on Saturday (April 25, 2026).

The Information Minister told the technology experts present, “This gathering of you is not just about presence; you have also brought your creative thinking to one place. The collective practice of such creative thinking will become an asset for the nation.’

He expressed hope that BISA will create an effective platform where the country’s technology sector stakeholders can collectively invest their knowledge, skills and thinking power.

The Information Minister said that semiconductors, rare earth materials and communication technology have now become very important strategic elements in world politics, economy and technology. Earlier, the main reason for global conflict was control over energy resources; now the availability of rare earth materials and technological raw materials is also becoming a major reason for international politics and conflict.

The Minister said that the government elected by the people’s votes is responsible for running the country and state; therefore, the knowledge and advice of experts are very important in formulating contemporary policies according to the needs of the new technology-based civilization. He expressed hope that the collective knowledge and research of technology experts will help the government in formulating timely, realistic and modern policies.

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan was present at the event. Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam and Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli also spoke, among others.
