On Saturday (18 April 2026), Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman visited the Alikadam Cantonment in Bandarban Region. During this, he formally inaugurated the newly built ‘Army Hill and Jungle Warfare School’.

This training institution has been established with the aim of enhancing the capacity to conduct military operations professionally in the flatlands as well as in remote hilly and forested areas of the country. Through this, army personnel will be able to receive specialized training to acquire the necessary physical fitness, mental toughness and tactical skills to perform their duties in hostile and risky environments.

The General Officer Commanding of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, Engineer-in-Chief, Adjutant General, General Officer Commanding of Headquarters 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chittagong Area, along with the Army Chief and senior military officers of the concerned areas were present during the visit. Army personnel of various levels also participated in the program.
