In a difficult time, when democracy was blocked, people did not have the right to vote, and there was no freedom of speech, Tarique Rahman came forward with determination, courage and unwavering faith. He has not only given leadership but also inspired hope, given strength to the voice of the people, and spoken as the voice of the oppressed.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh has returned to the path of democracy after going through many struggles, the advisor said, adding that his role in establishing free and fair elections, freedom of expression, protection of human rights, and the rule of law is recognized on the world stage today.
On the day he returned home through the best homecoming in history, he said, ‘I have a plan.’ Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working relentlessly according to that plan to build a non-discriminatory, inclusive, and integrated Bangladesh. The elected government has made excellent progress in implementing important promises in less than two months.
Mahdi Amin further said that being included in this list by Time is a strong recognition of the Prime Minister’s long struggle and struggle to establish democracy in Bangladesh and his charismatic ability to run the country. He has proven that the real strength of a leader is not power but the rights of the people.
He wants to see running the country not as power, but as a responsibility. Not division in the interest of the country, but rather a strong, steel-like unity can move a nation forward.
In his message, Advisor Mahdi Amin said that this honor received from the American magazine Time belongs to all of the country, and this honor belongs to every citizen of Bangladesh who believes that democracy is invincible. The power of the people never gives up.
Today’s global recognition is a victory of democracy, a victory of the people, a victory of Bangladesh.
