The Bangladesh Cricket Board has ushered in a big change in the country’s cricket arena. Former national team captain and one of the country’s best openers Tamim Iqbal has taken charge as the new president.
His name was officially announced on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) after 4 pm. Then, around 6 pm, he arrived at the BCB office in Mirpur, sat in the president’s chair and took charge. At that time, a festive atmosphere was created in the board premises; he was welcomed with slogans and processions in the presence of journalists and fans.
This new committee has been formed on an ad hoc basis for the time being, with a maximum term of three months. The committee led by Tamim has been given the responsibility of organizing an election within this period. It is believed that he will participate in the upcoming election as well.
