Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain said that the government is working towards the goal that children of government children’s homes should not grow up to become a burden on society but should develop into assets of the country and become self-reliant. At the same time, he also warned that no kind of corruption against children will be tolerated. He mentioned that the government will remain steadfast in its zero tolerance policy in this regard.
The minister spoke about these issues while talking to reporters after visiting the government children’s home Jhatika located at the Modern intersection in Rangpur city on Friday (April 3, 2026).
During the visit, he spoke to the children on various issues and gave necessary guidance to the concerned. The concerned officials of the Social Services Office were present at the time.
The minister said that the current government is determined to improve the quality of life of neglected children of the society. All such facilities will be ensured so that they do not feel like they are without a family or deprived. He also said that the Ministry of Social Welfare is working to improve the living standards of the neglected and backward communities across the country, including North Bengal.
