Patriarchal attitude in society is hindering women’s creative power: Information Minister

Desk Report:

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has said that women are creative by nature and their role in maintaining the continuity of generations is unique. But due to the patriarchal mentality in society, women’s natural talent and opportunities to become entrepreneurs are hindered to a large extent.

The minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the ‘World Women’s Conference 2026’ organized by Business America and Orthakantha at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday (March 31, 2026).

The Information and Broadcasting Minister said that the bond and emotion of motherhood are closely related to every human being. It is very important to recognize those women who have established themselves as entrepreneurs from among that community of women. This will further strengthen the trend of positive change in society.

Zahir Uddin Swapan assured that the feelings and expectations of the women participating in the program will be conveyed to the government’s policy-making level. He highlighted the experience of his political life and mentioned the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and said that as a woman leader, she has set an example of success by overcoming many adversities.

The Minister urged women to utilize their natural creative power without succumbing to social barriers and negative mindsets. The Information Minister thanked the organizers and said that such initiatives highlight the existing inequalities and ambiguities in the society as well as encourage and inspire women entrepreneurs. Successful women entrepreneurs at various levels were honored at the event.
