A bilateral meeting was held between Bangladesh’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaykobad), and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah. During the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and services related to Hajj and Umrah. It is expected that this meeting will bring new momentum to Hajj and Umrah services for Bangladeshi pilgrims.
The meeting took place on Monday (March 30, 2026) at the King Salman International Convention Center in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
Highlighting key aspects of Saudi Hajj management, the Religious Affairs Minister stated that under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia has achieved remarkable progress in Hajj and Umrah management. He also noted the increased use of technology and modernization in Hajj services, expressing sincere gratitude to the Saudi government on behalf of Bangladesh.
Recalling the historic relations between the two countries, the Minister said that Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia share a very cordial and brotherly relationship, rooted in mutual trust and common religious bonds. He expressed optimism that under the visionary leadership of Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the existing ties will reach new heights, and cooperation in Hajj, Umrah, and other areas of mutual development will be further strengthened.
During the meeting, the Minister handed over a written proposal to the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah for the welfare of Bangladeshi Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
Among others present at the meeting were Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad, NDC; Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Delwar Hossain; Deputy Minister (ICD) of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Al Hassan Yahya Al Mankhara; Additional Secretary of the Hajj Wing Md. Ayatul Islam; Consul General of Bangladesh in Jeddah Md. Sakhawat Hossain; and Counselor (Hajj) Md. Kamrul Islam, along with other senior officials.
