Initiatives will be taken to strengthen BNCC to transform youth power into skilled human resources: Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education

Desk Report:

On Monday (March 30, 2026), an important exchange of views was held with the Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon MP and officials of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) at the Ministry of Education. The meeting discussed the topic of “Youth Workforce Development: National Transformation through BNCC” with the BNCC delegation.

The meeting highlighted the expansion of BNCC’s activities, development of training structures and increasing their involvement in national development with the aim of transforming the country’s youth into skilled, disciplined and patriotic human resources. In addition, the analysis, prospects and challenges of the organization’s existing activities were also discussed.

The Education Minister said in the meeting that in the current context of the country, it is very important to develop discipline, leadership qualities, patriotism and ethics among students. He mentioned that BNCC can play an important role in developing the future generation as skilled and responsible citizens and it is also capable of acting as an effective “line of defense” of the country.

The minister also said that drug addiction, disinterest in studies and dropout tendency among students are a big challenge. To address these problems, organizations like BNCC need to be made more active and expanded. He emphasized on strengthening BNCC’s activities through coordination with the Ministry of Education.

The minister discussed the issue of including BNCC’s activities under the government’s 180-day program and directed to implement BNCC’s activities in a few upazilas as a pilot project. He said that this model will be expanded across the country with successful implementation.

Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon said, “BNCC is working on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which is the vision of our Prime Minister. We have to work jointly to implement this vision.”

At the meeting, BNCC representatives presented various proposals related to the organization’s infrastructure, training costs, manpower increase and expansion at the upazila level. They said that there is an opportunity to expand activities nationwide by using the infrastructure of existing educational institutions at a low cost.

At the meeting, the Education Minister called on all concerned to work in a coordinated manner and said, “The youth are the future of our country. Through their proper guidance and training, we can build a strong, self-reliant and disciplined nation.”
