Climate change is not a future threat, it is an inevitable reality: Disaster Management and Relief Minister

Desk Report:

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu MP said, “We are living in a time when climate change is no longer a future threat; it is an inevitable reality. Cyclones, floods, droughts, river erosion—these disasters have now become an integral part of our lives. And the biggest victims of these disasters are our children.

Children are our future, our dreams, our potential. But during disasters, they are the most helpless. Therefore, it is our moral and national responsibility not only to protect them, but also to make them aware, skilled and prepared.”

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Met Club: The Next Wave’ event organized by ‘Save the Children’ at a hotel in the capital on Monday morning (March 30).

The organizers said that Meteorological Club is a school-based, child-adolescent-led initiative that aims to make children aware and capable of weather, climate change, natural hazards and disaster preparedness.

Through this initiative, children are developed in the skills of weather observation, risk identification, understanding early warning and making the right decision during disasters. The e-learning platform based on gamified learning methodology will create an easy, interesting and participatory learning environment for children, which will help them acquire knowledge applicable to real-life situations and enable them to play a role in protecting themselves, their families and communities.

The Minister later inaugurated the club’s e-learning portal and unveiled the publication.
