Baby girl abducted from Azimpur rescued, kidnapper arrested

The police have rescued the abducted child in the robbery incident at the residence of government official Farzana in Azimpur, Dhaka. The kidnapper has been arrested from Mohammadpur. Today Monday (November 18, 2024) the child’s mother Farzana met the Home Affairs Advisor with her child.

The incident started last Friday (November 15, 2024) morning, at a residence in Azimpur Medical Staff Quarters. Some robbers suddenly entered Farzana’s house and looted gold ornaments and cash. At this time, they also kidnapped her child.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalbagh police station confirmed the truth of the incident and said that Farzana’s husband has not been in contact with her for the past four months and is not staying at home. He had picked up a sublet tenant in the house, but could not provide the tenant’s name and mobile number. Police are working to investigate the matter.

Police have collected CCTV footage in the investigation, but it is not clear. Meanwhile, the accused kidnapper has been arrested from Mohammadpur. With the quick action of the police, it was possible to rescue the child in a healthy condition.

The victim, Farzana Akhtar, is an employee of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The police said that if any new information is found in the investigation of the incident, legal action will be taken quickly.
