Great Independence and National Day 2026 was celebrated with due dignity and solemnity at the Bangladesh Embassy in Egypt, Cairo. The day began with the hoisting of the national flag. Ambassador Samina Naz officially hoisted the national flag in the embassy premises. Embassy officials and employees were present at the time.
Later, special prayers were held in the conference room of the embassy for the brave martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the great liberation war, the oppressed mothers and sisters, the injured freedom fighters and the prosperity of the country. Then the messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out.
At the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the day, Ambassador Samina Naz paid deep respect to all the brave martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the great liberation war and the mothers and sisters who lost their honor. He highlighted the historical context of Bangladesh’s independence struggle and referred to the barbaric genocide that took place on March 25, 1971 as an attempt to destroy the country’s leadership and intellectual power.
In his speech, the Ambassador also shed light on the ongoing development and progress of Bangladesh under the leadership of the current government. Keeping in mind the goal of ‘Bangladesh first’, he called on everyone to play a responsible role from their respective positions to further accelerate the country’s development journey.
