The Brunei Darussalam National Day was celebrated with appropriate religious arrangements at the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in Dhaka. The arrangements were made in line with the national guidelines for this year’s national celebrations.

The program began with the obligatory Zuhr prayer with the congregation led by Maulana Masudur Rahman, Imam and Khatib of Baridhara Jame Mosque and Islamic Center. A short prayer was held after the prayer. Then the ‘Majlis Khatam Al-Quran’ began.

A total of 42 Hafizs completed 30 paras of the Holy Quran during the program. This number was determined to symbolically represent the 42nd anniversary of Brunei Darussalam’s independence. At that time, all those present participated in the recitation of Surah Yasin. Later, the Doa Khatam Al-Quran and the formal Doa Kesyuquran for the continued peace and prosperity of Brunei Darussalam were held.
The Hafizs participating in the program were from four well-established religious educational institutions in the Baridhara area. The institutions are—Baridhara Jame Masjid and Islamic Center, Baitul Atiq Central Jame Masjid, Jamia Madania Baridhara Madrasa, and Taqwa Qawmi Madrasa. Among the invited religious figures were Maulana Masudur Rahman and Baitul Atiq Central Jame Masjid Imam Maulana Amirul Islam Nadvi.

The High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Bangladesh, His Excellency Haji Haris Bin Osman, was present at the program. In addition, home-based and locally engaged officials of the High Commission also participated.
In his speech, the High Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the participating scholars and Hafizs. He said that celebrating the National Day through recitation of the Quran and prayers during the holy month of Ramadan reflects the core values of Brunei Darussalam’s national identity.
