BNP is a reliable force to restore democracy: BNP nominated candidate for Gazipur-4 constituency Shah Riazul Hannan

Staff Correspondent:

BNP nominated candidate for Gazipur-4 constituency Shah Riazul Hannan said that BNP has led by standing by the people during every crisis and crisis in Bangladesh and as a result of that continuity, the country has reached a new historical stage today.

He said these things while addressing a huge election rally held at Bhawal Rajbari ground in Gazipur on Tuesday (January 27, 2026) night.

Shah Riazul Hannan said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman is a unique name in the political history of Bangladesh. As the founder of BNP, it was under his leadership that the authoritarian regime ended in the country and multi-party democracy was re-established. At the same time, he mentioned that the path to ensuring freedom of the media was also opened.

He said that in 1991, as a result of the successful nine-year anti-dictator Ershad movement, the BNP formed a government under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia. At that time, a new democracy was started in the country by introducing a democratic parliamentary system instead of the presidential system.

Shah Riazul Hannan further said that for the past 17 years, BNP leaders and activists have been relentlessly fighting in an uncompromising movement against the fascist Awami League. A new Bangladesh has been started through the 2024 mass uprising through the sacrifices and self-sacrifice of thousands of leaders and activists under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

He claimed that BNP leaders and activists made the most sacrifices in the 2024 mass movement. This role of BNP at every important moment in the country proves that BNP is the only political party that has always stood by the people.

Regarding the upcoming elections, he said, people from Kapasia, Kaliganj, Sreepur, Gazipur Sadar and Kaliakoir, including people from all over the country, are ready to vote for BNP on February 12, regardless of party affiliation. This expectation of the people proves that Bangladesh will once again move forward firmly on the path of democracy.

In his speech as the chief guest, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman highlighted BNP’s future plans for the development of Gazipur and said that a flyover will be constructed at Joydevpur rail crossing, canal excavation, day-care centers will be established in industrial areas, family cards for women and farmer cards will be introduced for farmers. He called for the candidates with the paddy sheaf symbol to win the upcoming elections to implement these plans.

At this time, BNP candidates for five constituencies of Gazipur were introduced. They are: Mujibur Rahman in Gazipur-1 constituency, A.M. Manjurul Karim Roni in Gazipur-2, S.M. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu in Gazipur-3, Shah Riazul Hannan in Gazipur-4 and Fazlul Haque Milan in Gazipur-5 constituency.

The public meeting held under the chairmanship of Metropolitan BNP President Shawkat Hossain Sarkar was moderated by M. Manjurul Karim Roni and Chowdhury Ishraq Ahmed Siddiqui. BNP Organizing Secretary Kazi Sayedul Alam Babul and several central and local level leaders also spoke at the meeting.
