Staff Correspondent:
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nominated parliamentary candidate and former founding president of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP and party’s microcredit affairs secretary Dr. MA Qayyum said, state reform is not possible without an educated and conscious generation. Education must be given top priority to build the future Bangladesh.

He said this at the reception and memorial honoring ceremony of students who achieved GPA-5 organized by Abdul Hai-Rabeya Foundation at Badda DIT playground.
Dr. MA Qayyum, the former founding president of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP, said, those who achieved GPA-5 are not only their own but the pride of the entire nation. But unfortunately, due to state mismanagement for a long time, the previous fascist government Awami League has brought the education system to the brink of destruction. A discriminatory system was imposed without proper evaluation of the talented.
He said, BNP has always believed in education-friendly politics. Under the leadership of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and national leader Begum Khaleda Zia, free education, expansion of girls’ education and increased opportunities for students have been provided in the country. However, during the past regime, the future of students has been made uncertain by partyization and control of the education system. A kind of lathi-charge force was formed in the educational institutions called Chhatra League. We have been freed from tyranny in a mass uprising of this young student community of 24.
BNP’s Microfinance Secretary Dr. M. A. Qayyum further said, we want a Bangladesh where educational institutions are free from politics, terrorism and drugs. Students will go to campus with dreams, not fear. Teachers will also be able to freely practice knowledge.
BNP’s nominated candidate Dr. M. A. Qayyum said, it is not enough to just do good results – students must be developed as patriotic, moral and humane people. Only then will it be possible to establish a democratic, non-discriminatory and developed state.
Dhaka-11 constituency leader Dr. M. A. Qayyum, in his speech, called on the wealthy and conscious sections of the society and said that when the state fails to fulfill its responsibilities, the society itself has to come forward. This initiative of Abdul Hai-Rabeya Foundation proves that people can stand by education if they want. Such work will continue in the future as well.
He pledged to reform the education system, undertake merit-based evaluation and special assistance programs for poor and talented students if he wins the next 13th National Parliament elections.
In addition, numerous educational institutions including Badda High School and Dhaka Metropolitan College have been established in Dhaka-11 constituency on the initiative of Dr. M. A. Qayyum, a lover of education. Abdul Hai-Rabeya Foundation was established in the name of his parents.
At the end of the program, honorariums and certificates were presented to students who achieved GPA-5. Students, guardians, teachers, political leaders and prominent figures of the society were present at the program.
