Dr. Rudiger Lotz, Ambassador of Germany to Dhaka, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting and breakfast meeting were held at the Ameer-e-Jamaat’s office in Bashundhara, the capital, on Tuesday (January 13, 2026) at 9 am.
Sharlina Nuzhat Kabir, Political and Press Officer of the German Embassy, was present at the meeting.

The meeting was held in a very sincere and cordial atmosphere. The meeting stated that the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections are very important for Bangladesh. The cooperation and technical assistance of the German government were sought to ensure that the elections are free, fair and acceptable.
At this time, the expectation of Germany’s continued support for the protection of women’s rights in Bangladesh, increasing skills in the workplace and overall social and economic development was expressed.
The meeting also had constructive discussions on the need to further establish sustainable democracy in Bangladesh and strengthen democratic institutions. Both sides expressed hope that bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Germany will further expand in the future.
At this time, the organization’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Propaganda and Media Department, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, and Foreign Affairs Advisor, Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, were present with the Ameer-e-Jamaat.
