Tarique Rahman calls for resolving differences through dialogue so that they do not turn into disagreements

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman said that the people of the country have already witnessed the consequences of the politics of revenge or revenge on August 5. He stressed the importance of resolving differences through dialogue so that they do not turn into disagreements.

He said these things during an exchange of views with editors and journalists of national-level media outlets at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in Banani, the capital, on Saturday (January 10, 2026).

Tarique Rahman said, “We have a difficult challenge ahead of us. We must continue the democratic process at any cost. There were problems, there are problems—but we do not want to return to the situation before August 5.” Therefore, everyone must forget their differences and work together.’

Returning to the country, the BNP chairman, highlighting his experience of visiting various areas, said that all generations, including the new generation, expect a clear direction and message of hope from politicians. He commented that if politicians work sincerely to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty, it will be possible to take the nation forward on the right path.

He also said, ‘I am a worker of a political party. In the upcoming election campaign, we will go to the people. If we come to power with the people’s votes, we will work to solve the problems of the people by facing criticism.’

Journalist Rezaul Karim Rony, Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman, The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Jugantor Editor Abdul Hai Sikder, Kaler Kantho Editor Hasan Hafiz, bdnews24.com Editor-in-Chief Toufiq Imroz Khalidi, and editors of various media outlets spoke at the meeting.
