Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said that the Dhaka International Trade Fair is not just an exhibition; it is an effective platform to connect Bangladesh with the global market.

In his speech as the president at the inaugural ceremony of the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair today, Saturday (January 03, 2026), he said that this fair has long been connecting producers with consumers, entrepreneurs with investors, and Bangladesh with global trade.

He said, “The role of trade fairs is very important in building a positive image of the country through the development of export products, diversification, exploration of new markets, and expansion of international cooperation.”

Highlighting the strategy to maintain Bangladesh’s export growth after LDC status, the Trade Advisor said that the government is consistently implementing various initiatives to develop products and expand markets. As part of this, the first-ever “Global Sourcing Expo 2025 Dhaka” was organized at the same venue last December, which has helped to showcase domestic production and export capabilities at the international level.

Highlighting the role of entrepreneurs, Sheikh Bashiruddin said that entrepreneurs build the country’s brand image by showcasing product quality, innovation and competitive capabilities. At the same time, they get the opportunity to achieve real commercial benefits by directly communicating with buyers.

He expressed hope that the active participation of entrepreneurs will make the trade fair more successful and will make a significant contribution to the country’s export growth.

At the time, he announced that as part of export diversification, ‘Paper and Packaging Products’ has been declared as the ‘Product of the Year’ for 2026, which will inject new momentum into the production and marketing of the relevant sector.

Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau Mohammad Hasan Arif delivered the welcome speech at the event. Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mahbubur Rahman and Administrator of FBCCI Md. Abdur Rahim Khan spoke as special guests.
