Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expresses deep shock and condolences on the demise of Begum Khaleda Zia

Expressing deep shock and condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a condolence statement today (December 30, 2025).

In the condolence statement, he said that former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has made important contributions to the democratic movement and struggle of Bangladesh. Her role in the restoration of multi-party democracy, people’s right to vote and the movement against dictatorship will be remembered in history. She has left a unique identity in the country’s political arena for her strong leadership and strong political stance. The nation will remember Begum Khaleda Zia’s contribution to the anti-hegemonic movement and struggle with respect. I express my deep shock and condolences on her demise.

May Allah Almighty forgive his mistakes and grant him Jannatul Firdous, and grant his bereaved family, relatives and colleagues the strength to endure this difficult time, Ameen.”
