LGD and JICA Hold JCC Meeting to Review City Corporation Capacity Building Project

The Local Government Division (LGD), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), convened a Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on 7 December to conduct the final review of the Project for Strengthening Capacity for City Corporations.

During the meeting, the Secretary of the Local Government Division commended the City Corporations for their timely preparation of key accountability documents, enhanced citizen engagement initiatives, and the introduction of systematized training programs for City Corporation officials. He noted that these achievements reflect the successful implementation and impact of the capacity-building project.

The JICA team also emphasized the importance of sustaining these positive outcomes by institutionalizing the systems and practices developed with support from the project. They highlighted that embedding these mechanisms within the regular administrative framework of City Corporations is essential for ensuring long-term transparency, accountability, and effective urban governance.
