Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called on district police superintendents to play a role in organizing a fair and acceptable election, calling the upcoming election a historic responsibility for all and taking this responsibility as a challenge.
He made this call at a view-sharing meeting with newly assigned police superintendents of 64 districts at the Chief Adviser’s office in Tejgaon today, Thursday (December 04, 2025).

The Chief Adviser said that this election is not a general election, but an election obtained in exchange for the sacrifices of those who were martyred in the July uprising.
He said that through the uprising, we had a dream of a new Bangladesh. We will take that dream forward through the upcoming elections.

He also said that a referendum will also be held simultaneously during the upcoming general election, which will serve as the basis for building the future Bangladesh. The new foundation that we will get through the referendum will take this nation forward for centuries.
The Chief Advisor said that many delegations and election observers will come from abroad in the upcoming elections. The Superintendents of Police should work towards this goal so that they can present this election as a wonderful example to the whole world.
The Chief Advisor said that we have all seen the past elections. Some call it a farce election, some call it a fraud and a joke election. We have to rise above that and create a new standard.

The Chief Advisor mentioned that bringing about that change is the major responsibility of the police force.
Emphasizing on the initiative and creativity of the officers in making the upcoming elections fair and beautiful, the Chief Advisor said, ‘Not everything can be written on paper. While performing your duties, you should think about how to do the job more beautifully.’
He mentioned that there could be competition among the members at the district or divisional level to improve the quality of work of the police members and increase their enjoyment of work. He also suggested that arrangements could be made for giving awards in this case.
Also present at the meeting were Home Affairs Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Md. Khoda Baks Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Nasimul Gani and Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Baharul Alam.
