EU and Bangladesh Red Crescent Join Forces to Provide Medical Care and Rehabilitation for the Injured

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities today, Wednesday (3 December 2025), the European Union (EU) expressed its commitment to work towards the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all spheres of social, economic, cultural and political life in Bangladesh.

The EU is supporting disabled and injured people in Bangladesh through the ‘Pathways to Healing’ project. This is a €2 million initiative jointly implemented by the EU, IFRC Asia Pacific and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS). The project is providing medical treatment, rehabilitation and livelihood support to 8,000 Bangladeshis injured during the July/August 2024 anti-riot operations.

The EU delegation visited the Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital on 2 December and had the opportunity to speak to the injured and hear their courageous stories. This initiative is ensuring their basic rights are protected and their rehabilitation is ensured.
