A delegation comprising representatives from the Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP) Programme, Solidaridad Network Asia, QStone Capital, and Kingsley visited the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Monday, November 10, 2025.

During the meeting, BGMEA Directors Nafis Ud Doula and Mohammed Sohel engaged in discussions with the delegation to explore potential areas of collaboration aimed at scaling up the ready-made garment (RMG) sector’s capacity in wastewater reuse.
The delegation shared updates on the SMEP project, which is currently piloting a modular and movable Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technology. This advanced system is capable of reusing up to 80% of wastewater, significantly reducing the extraction of freshwater and lowering pollution levels in wet-processing factories.
Both sides expressed their interest in strengthening cooperation through technical support, potential investment, and joint initiatives to promote a more sustainable and environmentally responsible RMG industry in Bangladesh.
