Bangladesh stands by Iran in the Middle East crisis: Handing over emergency medical aid

As part of solidarity and humanitarian assistance to the brotherly people of Iran in the context of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Secretary General Dr. Kabir M. Ashraf Alam handed over emergency medical supplies to Iranian Ambassador to Dhaka Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi on Thursday (April 23, 2026) morning.

Secretary (Bilateral) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam and Director General of the West Asia Division Md. Humayun Kabir were present on behalf of the Bangladesh government at this event organized at the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka.

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman donated one crore taka to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society on April 6, 2026 for the purchase of emergency medicines and medical equipment to provide medical assistance to the injured people of Iran in the current situation in the Middle East.

At the event, Secretary (Bilateral) Dr. Nazrul Islam expressed deep concern and sorrow over the massive loss of life and property in the Middle East conflict. He said that Bangladesh is always in favor of peace. He expressed hope that this crisis will be resolved peacefully through diplomatic efforts and lasting peace will be established in the Middle East.

Iranian Ambassador Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, while accepting the assistance, expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for this humanitarian initiative of the Bangladesh government. He mentioned the deep and friendly relations existing between Bangladesh and Iran and thanked the people of Bangladesh for their sympathy and sincere support for the people of Iran in this difficult time.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Dr. Kabir said that the Red Crescent works for the oppressed people of the world. He mentioned that it is their responsibility to participate in this humanitarian assistance for the people of Iran during the war.
